Sharkour! is a 3D game developed with Unreal Engine 5 during the Global Game Jam 2026. The project was built around a unique mask-switching mechanic that directly drives traversal, visibility, and level progression.

Each mask is associated with a specific color and reveals matching platforms hidden throughout the environment. Players must constantly adapt and switch masks strategically to discover the correct path and continue progressing through increasingly challenging platforming sequences.

A special mask introduces an additional gameplay layer by revealing every platform at once for a limited duration, forcing players to manage timing, cooldowns, and movement precision under pressure.

To maintain tension and momentum, a massive wall of water filled with sharks relentlessly chases the player throughout the experience, creating a fast-paced atmosphere focused on reaction speed, readability, and traversal mastery.

Challenges of the project

  • Designing a clear and intuitive mask-switching mechanic tied directly to navigation and level readability.
  • Balancing visibility, timing, and player understanding across multiple platform states and color systems.
  • Creating a constant feeling of urgency with the advancing water wall and maintaining gameplay readability during high-speed sequences.
  • My contribution: I developed the platform system, the water wall behavior, the mask UI system, and contributed to the overall level design and gameplay flow.
